High Springs, Florida is a city of approximately 6,000 people, located in western Alachua County. The area was first settled in the 1830s and was officially incorporated in 1892. The railroads came through in the 1800s as the population grew. Today, Route 27, 41, and 441 all pass through town.
Kids in the area attend the High Springs Community School and head over to Santa Fe High School for the ninth-twelfth grades.

There are a number of parks located in the area including Catherine Taylor Park, Highsprings Sinkhole Park, and the Highsprings Sports Complex. Next to the Sports Complex is a BMX track which attracts riders of all ages. River Rise Preserve and State Park which is a favorite for fishermen and hikers alike. The park also offers equestrian camping, where riders can stay overnight with there horses on a primitive campground. The Santa Fe River runs along the north side of town. You will find a boat ramp and a number of water-based activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking.
For a bite to eat, be sure to check out the Great Outdoors Restaurant, Bev’s Better Burgers, Eabyss, and Alice Parkside Restaurant. The High Springs Brewing Co. is opening soon and looks to offer an excellent craft beer selection.
