Melrose, Florida is a community located on the southern side of Lake Santa Fe. The area is only about 20 minutes from Gainesville, letting residents enjoy a more rural lifestyle, while still having the amenities of a city nearby. Many residents of the Melrose area commute to Gainsville for work. Melrose was first settled in the 1870s as the citrus industry thrived in the area. Even in the late 1800s, citrus products from this area were being delivered to people all over the United States. Students attend Melrose Elementary School then Keystone Heights High School.

Lake Santa Fe is popular with fishermen, boaters, and water skiers for its pristine waters. Melrose Bay Park is an alcove of Melrose Lake and is the perfect spot for swimming. Melrose Heritage Park hosts a farmers market and other events throughout the year. There is also a play area for the kids. A few of our favorite restaurants in the area include Blue Water Bay, Betty’s Pizza & Subs, and Fryer’s Chicken.
