It is part of the Gainsville Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is home to over a quarter million people. The city was established in 1884 when the railroad came through and was officially incorporated in 1905. I-76 runs right through town, making downtown Gainsville about a 20-minute drive south.

Alachua has two elementary schools, W.W Kirby Elementary, and Alachua Elementary. Mebane Middle and Santa Fe High School are also located within the city. The community is tightly knit and perfect for people of all ages who want the small town feel, while still being close to a larger city.

Things To Do

There are many activities families can enjoy including the Alachua Splash Park, Maude Lewis Park, or baseball at Skinner Field. The Scuba Monkey Dive Center offers diving lessons, aerobic classes, swimming lessons, guided tours, and community events. Deep Springs Farm is a 22-acre paradise of Oak Trees, gardens, ponds, and all kinds of recreational activities.
