Getting Your Home Ready To Sell!

Getting Your Home Ready To Sell!
Glen Williams:
So you’ve decided to put your home on the market, and the overwhelm is starting to set in and you’re asking yourself, “Where do I start?” Well, here are a few guidelines that you can follow to get your home sold faster and for more money.

Hi. I’m Glen Williams at Homes by Glen and EXP Realty. I’ve helped many sellers here in the Gainesville area get their home prepared ahead of time so it’s a smooth process when they go to market, I have found that by having a plan to follow, you can better prepare your home for those potential buyers.

The first thing you need to do, and everyone usually needs to do it in some manner, and that is to declutter and have a deep cleaning in your home. This can be a really long process, but the sooner you start, the better. You want to take a really good look at each room in your house and pack up anything and everything that you won’t be using for the next few months. This also includes all of your personal items and family pictures that you have all over the house. Remember, you’ve got to move anyway. So you’re just getting a head start.

Next, you want to get your home as clean as possible, because when a buyer sees a dirty home, they feel the home has not been well kept. And we don’t want to give the buyers any reason to look elsewhere. Simple things I like to tell my sellers that would really making their home shine to potential buyers is by having all of the hardware polished, like the doorknobs and handles on the cabinets. Also, they can make the floors look extra nice by having the carpets cleaned and the grout cleaned.

Number two, you want to finish all of those little projects that you started, but never got around to finishing, as well as be sure that all of your mechanical items and structural items are in working order. This would be items like your air conditioning and your hot water heater. And if your home has not had a fresh coat of paint in a while, you may want to consider painting the walls. And although you love that green paint color in your kitchen, it may turn off buyers when they first walk in. So try and keep the colors neutral.

These are some great tips on getting your home ready on the inside. Now, I want you to start thinking about creating a first impression when buyers drive up to your house so you have great curb appeal. To learn more about this and more practical tips when selling your home, be sure to watch my next video coming out. These steps will help you sell your home faster and for more money.
